ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – New Mexico Committee of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) announces the launch of their formal search for the next New Mexico ESGR State Chair.
The State Chair is an official Department of Defense Volunteer position with a three-year term of service. State Chairs are required to take an oath of office and serve at the pleasure of the ESGR Executive Director. The New Mexico State Chair’s role is to provide the leadership and vision for a team of dedicated volunteers throughout New Mexico to carry out the ESGR mission.
ESGR is a Department of Defense program that develops and promotes supportive work environments for Service Members in the Reserve Components through outreach, recognition, and educational opportunities that increase awareness of applicable laws. ESGR carries out its mission through its headquarters staff and nearly 3,500 Volunteers across 54 State Committees. Volunteers conduct proactive outreach to Service Members and their employers to provide knowledge on the rights and responsibilities under the Uniformed Service Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA). Volunteers allow for a no-cost, neutral mediation to Service Members and their employers when issues arise; and manage a robust Employer Awards program to recognize the critical role supportive employers have in enhancing retention rates in the Reserve Component.
Candidates that are interested in being considered for the New Mexico State Committee Chair must have an executive management background, cultural background in the military, experience in public speaking, and the abilities to develop and write sound long-range strategies for Committee operations. Each candidate will need to have an understanding of private and public sector funding and budget development and management; an extensive network of employer and employer association contacts to advance employer support, recruitment, training, and sustainment of positive volunteer development and employment.
Occasional travel (when applicable) will be across New Mexico as well as collaborative and training sessions in support of the ESGR programs across the country.
