LAKEWOOD, Wash. – Scott Gaines, transportation assistant manager at Pierce Transit, was presented with a Patriot Award, by Ohad Lowy and Mary Miller, south sound area co-chairs with the Washington Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, in recognition of his extraordinary support of his employee serving in the Washington National Guard at a recent team meeting at Pierce Transit headquarters.
HILO, Hawaii – Hawaii Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve hosted a Bosslift, July 6. Participating employers learned about the 291st Combat Communications Squadron and 1-183rd Aviation missions then divided into two groups for an orientation flight on Blackhawks. “This was an exceptional event! It was great to see how the National Guard trains,” commented a participant.
HONOLULU – Hawaii Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve hosted a Bosslift, Aug. 16 at Hangar 13 on Hickam Air Force Base. Participating employers learned about the 203rd Air Refueling Squadron mission, signed Statements of Support, and went on a KC-135 orientation flight where they also witnessed a mid-air refueling of an F-22.

CAMP MURRAY, Wash. – Washington Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, an office within the Department of Defense, announced that Col. Jim Perrin, commander of the 81st Stryker Brigade Combat Team (SBCT), received the ESGR Seven Seals Award in recognition of his support of the ESGR mission. The Seven Seals Award, presented by Washington ESGR State Chair Phil Sanders, and south sound area co-chairs Ohad Lowy and Mary Miller.
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. – A 20 year ESGR volunteer recipient James Crawford recently received the James Roche Award for “Spirit of Volunteerism” presented by fellow volunteers Vice Chair Joel Miltenberger and Brian Shaw in what was considered a “surprise attack from his office staff and family” in his private practice law office in Charles Town Aug. 16.
