WASHINGTON – The Department of Defense honored the recipients of the 2023 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award, the highest U.S. government honor to employers for support of National Guard and Reserve, in a formal ceremony at the Pentagon Aug. 30.
EWA BEACH, Hawaii – Chelita Muratsuka, nurse manager at Queen’s Medical Center West Oahu, received the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Patriot Award recently for the extraordinary support she provides her employee Lt. Cmdr. Melody Domingo.
EWA BEACH, Hawaii – Anela Pia, principal at Kaimiloa Elementary School, received the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Patriot Award recently for the extraordinary support she provides her employee 1st Lt. James Ro. This surprise presentation took place with approximately 60 teachers, staff, and contractors present.

MILILANI, Hawaii – Janet Covington, Cohen Clinic Director, received the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Patriot Award April 18 for the extraordinary support she provides her employee Master Sgt. Tatiana Abasolo, United States Air Force Reserve.
Six outstanding volunteers recognized for selfless service
