BOTHELL, Wash. – Alberto Principe, Business Operations Director at the US FDA Pacific Northwest Laboratory, was presented with an Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Patriot Award, by Michael Kidd, volunteer for the Washington Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, in recognition of extraordinary support of his employees serving in the Army Reserve.
Principe was nominated by Army Reserve Sgt. 1st Class Thomas Lamb, a management and procurement analyst with the FDA.
“I have been taken away from my civilian work for more than a normal amount of time this year due to my military obligations,” said Lamb. “Alberto, along with the rest [of my colleagues] have stepped up to cover my duties while I was gone.”
“The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees who have answered their nation’s call to serve,” said Kidd. “Supportive supervisors, such as Alberto, are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s Guard and Reserve units.”
“We have a lot of veterans as well as those who serve in the Reserve Components working at the lab, and we value their service,” said Principe upon receiving the award.
National Guard and Reserve members bring tremendous skills and capabilities to our workforce, and employer support for their military service is critical to maintaining the strength of our Guard and Reserve units,” said Kidd. “By valuing the military service of their Guard and Reserve employees, employers are directly supporting the readiness and retention of our All-Volunteer Force, and our national defense.”
