ESGR in the News

DULUTH, Minn. – Thirty-one supportive employers from Duluth, surrounding cities and Wisconsin participated in a Bosslift from the 148th Fighter Wing in Duluth Sept. 9.

The day started with a very informative brief from Wing Commander Col. Chris Bloomquist. This was one of the colonel’s last official acts as Wing Commander as he was relinquishing command in the afternoon. The briefing was followed by a lecture on the flight suit that an F-16 pilot wears to include the pressurized suit and helmet to protect the them from blackouts.

After a weather delay a KC-135 out of 128th Air Refueling Wing in Wisconsin was able to land and give their safety briefing.  Each employer was able to lay down next to the Boom Operator and watch an F-16 approach to be refueled.  This was an incredible experience for all of us aboard the KC-135.

ESGR is a Department of Defense program which seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States.  For more information about ESGR outreach programs or volunteer opportunities, call (800) 336-4590 or visit www.ESGR.mil.
