KENT, Wash. – Andrew McKellips, CEO and founder of Adaptive Threat Solutions, a security firm in Kent, Washington, was presented with an Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Patriot Award in recognition of his extraordinary support of an employee who serves in the United States Air Force Reserve. McKellips was nominated by Airman Huy X. Nguyen for McKellips’s support of his military service.  The award was presented by Washington ESGR volunteer Larry Kirchner.

The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees, who like the citizen warriors before them, have answered their nation’s call to serve. Supportive supervisors are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s Guard and Reserve units.

Nguyen, an operations support manager in his civilian career, expressed his appreciation for the support and accommodation provided by Mr. McKellips, citing his support and understanding of his reserve military duties. “McKellips was supportive of my military duties and went above and beyond in supporting my short notice active duty tour,” said Nguyen

ESGR is a Department of Defense office that develops and promotes supportive work environments for service members in the National Guard and Reserve through outreach, recognition, and educational opportunities that increase awareness of applicable laws. ESGR also provides assistance in resolving conflicts between Service members and their employers. This year, ESGR celebrates 50 years of excellence in support of the Reserve Components and their civilian employers. For more information about ESGR outreach programs or volunteer opportunities, call (800) 336-4590 or visit www.ESGR.mil/WA.
