CAMP MURRAY, Wash. – Washington Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, an office within the Department of Defense, announced that Col. Jim Perrin, commander of the 81st Stryker Brigade Combat Team (SBCT), received the ESGR Seven Seals Award in recognition of his support of the ESGR mission. The Seven Seals Award, presented by Washington ESGR State Chair Phil Sanders, and south sound area co-chairs Ohad Lowy and Mary Miller.
“The Seven Seals Award is the broadest and most inclusive award given by ESGR and is presented at the discretion of the state chair. The award is presented in recognition of significant individual or organizational achievement, initiatives, or support that promotes and supports the ESGR mission,” said Sanders. “The Seven Seals Award is symbolic of the seven services: Army National Guard, Army Reserve, Navy Reserve, Marine Corps Reserve, Air National Guard, Air Force Reserve, and Coast Guard Reserve.
Col. Perrin was presented the Seven Seals Award for his tremendous support of the ESGR program. “While some folks just talk the talk about supporting the ESGR mission, Col. Perrin walks the walk,” said Sanders. “When the 81st SBCT was deploying, Col. Perrin worked with ESGR to make sure his soldiers knew about their employment rights under USERRA. When he came back from deployment, he also took the time to provide an excellent briefing to our volunteers at our first post pandemic in person Annual Planning and Awards Meeting.”
“It is humbling to be recognized by ESGR for the small role I play in supporting their operations,” said Perrin. “They make an invaluable contribution by enabling Guard Soldiers and Airmen to achieve productive relationships with their employers while continuing to serve their country. I cannot say thank you enough for everything that ESGR does.”
