SHAKOPEE, Minn. – Minnesota National Guardsman Spc. Kerry Vohnoutka nominated his Emergency Room Nursing Supervisor, Erin Clark, to receive the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Patriot Award.
The award was presented July 29 during normal working hours in the Emergency Room component of the Allina Health System’s St. Francis Medical Center Hospital in Shakopee, in recognition of Clark’s support of her employee’s service to the Minnesota National Guard.
Vohnoutka was very grateful for and most appreciative of his Manager’s assistance with respect to his National Guard obligations. He stated that even though his Supervisor was new to her position, “Ms. Clark … figured out everything that she had to do on the organizational side of things to make sure that I kept my job and seniority.”
Clark has as a managerial goal the creating and maintenance of a “cooperative work environment;” and her support of Vohnoutka’s National Guard duties and responsibilities certainly reinforces this orientation, and reinforces Vohnoutka’s goal of national military service as a combat medic.
Allina Health, and its St. Francis Medical Center Hospital facility, stand for medical excellence- no doubt about it; but they also symbolize leading large in national affairs.
Presenting the Patriot Award was Minnesota ESGR Member Peter R. Bartling, a former Active Army Officer and Reserve Component Member. ESGR is a Department of Defense office which seeks to foster a culture in which all employers value and support the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States.
