PLYMOUTH, Minn. – United States Navy Reservist Petty Officer 2nd Class Chelsea Kunzler nominated her commercial development real estate firm supervisor, Jamie Luehrs, to receive the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Patriot Award. The award was presented July 13 during the Roers Companies’ Annual Corporate Conference at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Plymouth, in recognition of Luehr’s support of her employee’s service to the U.S. Navy Reserve. Kunzler was very grateful for and most appreciative of her Employer’s reinforcement and assistance with respect to her reserve deployments and dual career choices, and wanted to honor both her supervisor and the company for which she worked. Her nomination said, in part, “…thank you for the dedication, patience, and support they have offered me over the past three years of employment.” “My Direct Supervisor, Jamie Luehrs, and my HR Director Becky Hamm, have shown the utmost respect and supportiveness around my reserve responsibilities,” said Kunzler. The Patriot Award itself was an awesome surprise to Jamie, which made the in-person presentation to her even more special to both her and the many company representatives at the conference. Celebrating success is a corporate value in the Roers organization, as well as in the ESGR community! Presenting the Patriot Award was Minnesota ESGR Committee Member Peter R. Bartling, a former Active Army Officer and Reserve Component Member. ESGR is a Department of Defense office which seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States.
