THREE FORKS, Mont. – Pam Nichols, Clinic Manager for the Montana VA Health Care System Bozeman and Anaconda Community Based Outpatient Clinics, was awarded a Department of Defense Patriot Award in recognition of her extraordinary support of her employee, Master Sgt. Jessie Trimbach, serving in the Montana Air National Guard 120th Airlift Wing Medical Group.
The Patriot Award was developed by Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a program of the Department of Defense, to publicly recognize civilian employers who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their civilian employees serving in the guard or reserve. Without supportive employers, the strength and readiness of the nation’s Guard and Reserve units cannot be maintained.
Trimbach’s nomination reads, “Pam has been very flexible and understanding with my military obligations. These military obligations often come with short notice and little flexibility, leaving her in tough positions. She defends me to the rest of the staff, which helps protect those important civilian staff relationships. I work as a nurse in my civilian job and, as everyone knows, we have been in a pandemic for the last two years. Clinics everywhere are already shorthanded for nurses; for Pam to be so accommodating under these circumstances speaks volumes for her support. I appreciate her leadership and understanding of my needs to balance both employers and careers.”
The award was presented to Nichols during her attendance at an ESGR helicopter or boss lift flight. Master Sergeant Trimbach nominated Nichols for the flight in appreciation for her support of Trimbach’s military obligations which take her away from her job with the Montana VA.
Nichols commented, “To be nominated for the (boss lift ) flight itself was so much more than I could ever have expected, then to be surprised with the honor of being nominated for and actually receive the “ Patriot Award” only made the entire experience an indelible memory that I will never forget and one that I will forever be honored and humbled by. I can’t thank my Guardsman, Master Sergeant, Jessie Trimbach and all that made this day possible enough. I am blessed indeed!”
Congratulations Pam Nichols for being a supportive civilian employer of our Montana Guard and Reserve. You provide a valuable service to our country by hiring our Montana Guard and Reserve members. We applaud your own service and thank you for being an understanding employer.
ESGR is celebrating 50 years of working to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States. For more information about ESGR outreach programs, call (800) 336-4590 or visit www.ESGR.mil.
