KINGSHILL, U.S. Virgin Islands Transportation Security Administration Human Resources Specialist ViTosca Page, received the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve's Patriot Award at the St. Thomas Briefing with the Boss recently.

The Virgin Islands Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve State Chair Stanley Jones presented the award at its employer information briefing event held at Victor's New Hideout.

Ms. Page, was nominated by Sgt. Deneesha Smith who is assigned to the Virgin Islands National Guard, 786th Headquarters and Headquarters Company.  In her civilian position, Smith works as a Transportation Security Officer.

Smith nominated Page because she goes above and beyond by contacting service members on long tour orders to submit necessary paperwork.

“As the Human Resources Specialist for Cyril E. King Airport on St. Thomas, Tosca Page resolves difficult human capital issues. She provides leadership with guidance, training and support on a long list of policies and procedures that affect compensation, benefits, labor relations, workforce development and recruitment and hiring," said Smith.

"Her diligence has allowed service members to maintain pay and leave benefits while serving the country. This improves morale as service members are not worried about finances and can focus on the mission more effectively.”

In her remarks Page highlighted her experience with military service and what a surprise it was to be nominated.

"I am a veteran," said Page. "I spent eight years in the Navy and I have been with TSA for two years. My passion is HR and I manage the payroll. It is a pleasure to get this award."

The Patriot Award is designed to recognize supervisors and bosses for their support that helps National Guardsmen or Reservists serve our nation.
