SEATTLE – Kory Agan, digital accelerator for US Bank at Seattle, was presented with the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Patriot Award in recognition of her extraordinary support of a former employee who serves in the United States Naval Reserve. Agan was nominated by Navy Reserve Petty Officer 2nd Class Heather Szegedi, previously a teller for US Bank, for Agan’s support of her military service when Agan was her supervisor. The award was presented by Larry Kirchner, employer outreach coordinator with the Washington ESGR.

The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees, who like the citizen warriors before them, have answered their nation’s call to serve. Supportive supervisors are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s Guard and Reserve units.

Szegedi expressed her appreciation for the support and accommodation provided by Agan, citing her understanding of her reserve military duties. “Koryn was supportive of my military duties and went above and beyond to make sure that my civilian employer was taking care of me in every way they could,” said Szegedi. “Her support and that of US Bank made my life much easier and alleviated many of the stressors of coming and going from civilian to military duty.”

ESGR, a Department of Defense program, seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States. This year, ESGR celebrates 50 years of excellence in support of the Reserve Components and their civilian employers.  For more information about ESGR outreach programs or volunteer opportunities, call (800) 336-4590 or visit http://www.esgr.mil/WA.
