ESGR in the News

DAWSON, Minn. – Staff Sgt. John Parsons of the Minnesota Army National Guard, is presenting the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Patriot Award to his supervisor Lance Bjerkeset at Puris Foods April 1 in Dawson.

The award was given to Bjerkeset in support of his employee's service to the Minnesota National Guard. Parsons was very appreciative of his support and ensuring that I have adequate time to fulfill my obligations as an NCO [noncommissioned officer] outside of drill, accommodating for my absence on short notice due to state active duty missions and being a genuine supporter of the military and offering any assistance in and outside of work.

Parsons said that Bjerkeset has undoubtedly been the most supportive, of not only my service but every veteran he supervises. Also present was Doug Broich the ESGR Region 3 Chair.

ESGR is a Department of Defense program which seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States. For more information about ESGR outreach programs or volunteer opportunities, call (800) 336-4590 or visit www.ESGR.mil.
