CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. – Joe Robillard, a supervisor with Nokia was recently presented with the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Patriot Award by ESGR volunteer Tom Miller with the West Virginia ESGR Committee. United States Navy Reservist Lt. Christian Paul a member of the C3F Maritime Air Operations nominated him for this award.
“The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees who have answered their nation’s call to serve,” said ESGR State Chair John Miller. “Supportive supervisors are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s Guard and Reserve units.”
In his narrative Mr. Paul states: “My supervisor is fully supportive of my service in the Navy Reserves. He understands the monthly and annual requirements the Reserves place on members and is flexible in allowing me to manage my requirements with the demands of my civilian work. His focus is on results and I am empowered to deliver results in ways that do not put my Reserve requirements at risk.”
ESGR is a Department of Defense program that develops and promotes supportive work environments for service members in the National Guard and Reserve through outreach, recognition, and educational opportunities that increase awareness of applicable laws. ESGR also provides assistance in resolving conflicts between Service members and their employers.
