ESGR in the News

BOZEMAN, Mont. – Kelly King of Mountain Hot Tub is awarded an Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Patriot Award in recognition of his exceptional support of his employee Lance Cpl. Owen Shields serving in the US Marine Corp Reserve.

Montana ESGR volunteer Brooks Emeny presented the award to King. Shields was fulfilling a military obligation at the time of the ceremony, but attended via an IPAD held by a Mountain Hot Tub employee.

The Patriot Award, developed by ESGR, a Department of Defense program, publicly recognizes civilian employers providing outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their civilian employees serving in the guard or reserve. The reward reflects an employer’s efforts of support which may include flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployment, caring for families, and granting leaves of absence if needed.

Shields’ nomination reads, “My boss owns three businesses he’s retired Navy and has been so overwhelmingly helpful towards me being in the military from short notice of drill schedule changes to deployment changes and training that I would get thrown into. He is always offering help with stuff back home and is involved with me when I return from drill. A great company. Amazing employees!”

Congratulations from Montana ESGR to Kelly King with Mountain Hot Tub for being supportive civilian employer of our Montana Reserve. You provide a valuable service to our country by hiring our Montana Guard and Reserve members. We applaud your own service and thank you for being an understanding employer.

For 50 years, ESGR has strived to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military Service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States, U.S. territories, and the District of Columbia.
