STROUDSBURG, Pa. – Pennsylvania Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense program, announced that the Willowtree Inn recently received two Patriot Awards in recognition of extraordinary support of employees serving in the Pennsylvania Guard and Reserve.
Willowtree Inn’s George Nunn and Tina Schneck were nominated for the Patriot Awards by Petty Officer 2nd Class Annalynn Kale, of the Expeditionary Medical Facility at the Naval Operational Support Center Lehigh Valley, U.S. Navy Reserve.
In nominating Nunn and Schneck, Kale stated: “My supervisor(s) continually checked in on me throughout my deployment. (They) gave me professional advice and checked on my emotional well-being.” Kale further stated: “On my last deployment I was acting as a Destructive Weather Coordinator. I worked in Hurricane preparedness and recovery efforts and found my work to be very fulfilling and engaging. I'm very excited to get back into that sort of work in my civilian life. My military training and work in this area of expertise will help me achieve my goal. I'm also hoping to become a surgical technician someday. If all else fails, I'll likely consider deploying again as I miss the routine and take pride in service to my Country.”
Roslyn Schroeder, Pennsylvania East Central ESGR volunteer, presented the Patriot Awards to Nunn and Schneck. In presenting the awards, Schroeder commented: “It’s critical and an honor to recognize employers that hire and support our Guard and Reserve forces.”
Schroeder went on to say, “It would be difficult for those in the uniformed services to perform their mission without employer support.”
Schroeder also noted that the awardees were very thankful for the Patriot Awards and expressed their gratitude for all service members; they were very impressed with the Statement of Support which they will put on display at their business.
ESGR, a Department of Defense program, seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States. ESGR facilitates and promotes a cooperative culture of employer support for National Guard and Reserve service by developing and advocating mutually beneficial initiatives, recognizing outstanding employer support, increasing awareness of applicable laws and policies, resolving potential conflicts between employers and their service members, and acting as the employers’ principal advocate within DoD.
