TIOGA, Pa. – Pennsylvania Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense program, announced that C&N Bank recently received a Patriot Awards in recognition of extraordinary support of employees serving in the Pennsylvania Guard and Reserve.
C&N Bank’s Charity Shaefer was nominated for the Patriot Awards by Master Sgt. Bryan Bailey, of Pennsylvania’s K Troop, 3rd Squadron, 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment located in Wellsboro and is going to assume the position of G5 Operations Sergeant Major at the Harrisburg Military Post. In nominating Shaefer, Baily stated: “Shaefer and C&N Bank recognizes and complies with the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act. They appreciate the values, leadership, and unique skills that I bring to the workplace. They continually recognize and support my service to the Commonwealth.”
William Burkhard, Pennsylvania North Central Area ESGR Chair, presented the Patriot Awards to Shaefer. In presenting the awards, Burkhard commented: “It’s critical and an honor to recognize and pay tribute to those employers that hire and support our Guard and Reserve forces. It would be difficult for those in the uniformed services to perform their mission without employer support.”
Upon receiving the Patriot Award, Shaefer said, “I thank Bryan for the nomination. Having grown up in a military family and my father being a retired Senior Master Sgt. in the Air Force, I know the many sacrifices made not only (those) who serve but families as well. I am truly grateful to you both for your service to our great country.”
ESGR, a Department of Defense program, seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States. ESGR facilitates and promotes a cooperative culture of employer support for National Guard and Reserve service by developing and advocating mutually beneficial initiatives, recognizing outstanding employer support, increasing awareness of applicable laws and policies, resolving potential conflicts between employers and their service members, and acting as the employers’ principal advocate within DoD. Paramount to ESGR's mission is encouraging employment of Guardsmen and Reservists who bring integrity, global perspective and proven leadership to the civilian workforce.
