ESGR in the News

BILLINGS, Mont. – Lissa Preuit Billings Clinic Surgery Center received a Department of Defense Patriot Award in recognition of extraordinary support of her employee serving in the United States Army Reserve Maj. Tonda Thomas with the 7252 Medical Support Unit. Montana Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (Montanan ESGR) volunteer Brynn Schwarz presented the award.

The Patriot Award was developed by ESGR to publicly recognize civilian employers who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their civilian employees serving in the guard or reserve. Without supportive employers, the strength and readiness of the nation’s Guard and Reserve units cannot be maintained.

Major Thomas wrote in the nomination, “Lissa Preuit demonstrates the highest qualities of an amazing supervisor. She provides flexibility with my schedule and allows adequate time to attend my monthly military training, located at Fort Harrison, Montana. Lissa listens and shows compassion to everyone around her. She works diligently and is always available to assist especially during times when we are short staffed. Lissa’s hard work and dedication to the Surgery Center as well as her support for my military training does not go unnoticed and that is why I would like to recognize her for this award.”

The presentation of the award was not without its challenges of entry for Montana ESGR Volunteer Brynn Schwarz. Attendance to the event required a health screening, masking and reception clearance.

“A big thank you, to Lissa and everyone at the Billings Clinic Surgery Center for allowing this to happen, within the Teams’ work environment,” commented Schwarz. “Congratulations to Lissa for being so positive, compassionate and flexible as a leader at the Clinic.”

Schwarz went on to say, “This team of medical professionals start their days out early and provides dedication to the surgery center even through current staffing shortages.”

Montana ESGR applauds Lissa Preuit Billings Clinic Surgery Center for being a supportive civilian employer of our Montana Guard and Reserve. You provide a valuable service to our country by hiring our Montana Guard and Reserve members. We thank you for your own service to the Billings community and thank you for being an understanding employer.

ESGR, a Department of Defense program, seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States.
