SPOKANE, Wash. – Nick Shepard, fleet production supervisor at Enterprise Holding, was presented with a Patriot Award, by Jim Wynne, a volunteer with the Washington Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, in recognition of his extraordinary support of his employee serving in the Washington Army National Guard.

Shepard was nominated by Washington Army National Guardsman 1st Lt. Cody Moen, a lot coordinator at Enterprise.  "Nick has been a huge supporter to myself and my wife as I am preparing to be deployed. Not only was he willing to step in and fill my vacant position but he also did everything he could to make sure I was prepared for this! He was even already talking with all my co-workers and other management to start gathering supplies for some care packages that he plans to send. Truly an amazing guy and an extraordinary supervisor!"

“The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees, who like the citizen warriors before them, have answered their nation’s call to serve,” said Wynne. “Supportive supervisors are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s Guard and Reserve units.”

ESGR, a Department of Defense program, seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States.
