LINCOLN, Neb. – Executive Director Valerie Lefler of Feonix-Mobility Rising was recently presented with the Department of Defense Patriot Award by Randy Amundson, a volunteer representing the Nebraska Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.
Lefler was nominated for being highly supportive of her reserve component employee Tech. Sgt. John Doherty, a member of the Texas Air National Guard.
Doherty writes, “During the onset and continuation of the Covid-19 pandemic, Valerie Lefler, the Executive Director and founder of Feonix-Mobility Rising supported and kept in contact with me while I was activated two separate times in support of the TX Air National Guard’s mobile testing and vaccination missions. When activated the first time for statewide testing I only received a one week notice and Valerie supported me as I made a transition from full time civilian work to active duty. After three months of activation, she welcomed me back to my full time position only to be called upon again in just two months; this time with only three days’ notice to head out for the vaccination mission. After, a long six months away, I once again was welcomed back to my full time position and have continued to receive support from this great non-profit employer ever since.”
“The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding support and cooperation to their employees, who like the citizen warriors before them have answered their nation’s call to serve,” said Amundson in his presentation. “Supportive supervisors are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s Guard and Reserve units, and it’s a pleasure for me to recognize Ms. Lefler with this award.”
Following the award presentation, Lefler, signed a Statement of Support on behalf of Feonix-Mobility Rising, publicly acknowledging support for all National Guard and Reserve service members.
ESGR, a Department of Defense program, seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States.
