FARGO, N.D. – Travis Hudson, a U-Haul supervisor, received the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Patriot Award August 19 for the extraordinary support he provides employee Pfc. Ram Dahal, North Dakota Army National Guard.
The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees who have answered their nation’s call to serve. “Thank you Travis, the Guard and Reserve could not carry out their mission without supportive supervisors like you,” commented ESGR volunteer Dave Johnston.
“We are joined by Ram’s wife Rejina, Travis’s mother Robbi and sister Faith. It is great to see all the support for Ram and Travis today,” commented ESGR volunteer John Carlson. “The three-legged stool represents how ESGR looks at service members, civilian employers, and military families. You need each one to build a strong National Guard and Reserve foundation. Without one, the three-legged stool would not function.”
“Travis, thank you for being a big supporter of Private Dahal. We understand the bind we put employers like you in as well as your other employees having to cover down, I want to reiterate how much we appreciate you supporting him and allowing us to continue to do our mission as well,” said Lt. Col. Derek Kuntz, North Dakota National Guard.
Kuntz went on to say, “Mr. Hudson, you are receiving a patriot award and a patriot is defined as someone who loves his or her country. People show that love of their country by doing various things and by you supporting the National Guard, your guardsman and employee, truly shows the love you have for your country.”
U-Haul joins a cadre of Fortune 500 companies, state and federal, agencies and thousands of American’s employers in demonstrating support for our armed forces, added ESGR volunteer Carlson. “By signing the Statement of Support, U-Haul is sending a clear message to its employees that while they are serving their country, they do not have to worry about their civilian jobs.”
ESGR is a Department of Defense program that develops and promotes supportive work environments for service members in the National Guard and Reserve through outreach, recognition, and educational opportunities that increase awareness of applicable laws. ESGR also provides assistance in resolving conflicts between Service members and their employers.
