MANDAN, N.D. – Three Cloverdale Foods supervisors recently received the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Patriot Award for the outstanding support of their Reserve Component employee, Pfc. Christian Serrano-Tirado who serves in the North Dakota Army National Guard.
Smokehouse and Injection Supervisor Troy Schmidt; Smokehouse a.m. Shift Foreman Justin Honrath; and Smokehouse p.m. Shift Foreman Don Schaf were presented the awards at Cloverdale Foods in Mandan.
On hand for the award presentation were Cloverdale President and CEO Scott Russell, Company Vice President for Plant Operations, Sam Towner and North Dakota ESGR volunteer Scott Staudinger who also serves on the headquarters ESGR, Central Region- Board of Directors.
According to Staudinger, Serrano-Tirado has a demanding and often‐changing schedule with the National Guard and has attended multiple training exercises during his employment at Cloverdale.
“Cloverdale leadership helps by aligning work hours around my schedule,” said Serrano-Tirado. “Upon returning from every training event, they welcome me back and support me in my transition back to Cloverdale.”
Staudinger added, “Cloverdale is honored to congratulate Troy, Justin and Don and sincerely thanks Private First Class Christian Serrano-Tirado for his service to our country.”
After the presentation Russell signed the statement of support on behalf of Cloverdale pledging ongoing recognition for the unique needs of employees who serve in the National Guard or Reserve.
Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) is a Department of Defense program that develops and promotes supportive work environments for service members in the National Guard and Reserve.
