ANNVILLE, Pa. – Pennsylvania Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense program, announced today that SUEZ North America was honored with a Seven Seals Award in recognition of extraordinary support of its employees serving in the Pennsylvania Guard and Reserve.
According to Marty Kuhar ESGR Pennsylvania State Chair, “The Seven Seals Award is the broadest and most inclusive award given by ESGR and is presented at the discretion of the State Chair or by ESGR senior leadership. The award is presented in recognition of significant individual or organizational achievement, initiative, or support that promotes and supports the ESGR mission.”
Staff Sgt. Shawn Wiley of the Pennsylvania Air National Guard nominated SUEZ North America for the award.
SUEZ Vice President and General Manager John Hollenbach along with Assistant Operations Manager Scot Christiansen accepted the Seven Seals Award during the annual Pennsylvania ESGR Employer Awards Luncheon. Upon receiving the award, Hollenbach said in part: “Team members like Shawn Wiley allow SUEZ to be innovative and problem solving. As a leader of the Mid-Atlantic Water Quality team, Wiley is an expert in his field, acting as a liaison with regulators to ensure SUEZ provides the safest drinking water to customers. He is one of many managers and supervisors who value their employees, and it shows. Our team spirit starts from the top by keeping employees informed, putting individual safety and emotional needs first, and giving support when needed. It is an honor to have members on our team who served our country and are now serving the communities in which they live. SUEZ is thankful to be acknowledged as a top 50 [Pennsylvania] patriotic employer.”
ESGR, a Department of Defense program, seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States. ESGR facilitates and promotes a cooperative culture of employer support for National Guard and Reserve service by developing and advocating mutually beneficial initiatives, recognizing outstanding employer support, increasing awareness of applicable laws and policies, resolving potential conflicts between employers and their service members, and acting as the employers’ principal advocate within DoD. Paramount to ESGR's mission is encouraging employment of Guardsmen and Reservists who bring integrity, global perspective and proven leadership to the civilian workforce.
