WASHINGTON – Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III named Boyer Commercial Construction one of the 15 recipients of the 2021 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award, in recognition of the organization’s exemplary support for its National Guard and Reserve employees.
“I am proud to salute the outstanding employers who have earned the distinction of being named Freedom Award recipients as we mark the 25th year of this highly coveted recognition,” said Defense Secretary Lloyd J. Austin III. “The men and women of the National Guard and Reserve make significant contributions to our communities and our national security through their civilian and military careers. We owe a debt of gratitude to these exemplary employers, who by valuing and supporting their employees’ military service, enhance the strength, readiness, and diversity of our National Guard and Reserve forces.”
Boyer Commercial Construction along with 14 other recipients were selected from 3,382 nominations received from Guardsmen and Reservists highlighting how their civilian employers went far beyond what the federal law requires to support them. Celebrating its 25th year the Freedom Award began in 1996 under the auspices of Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve to recognize exceptional employer support, with 310 honorees to date.
Boyer Commercial Construction supports their military by ensuring that its employees continue to get their full company pay and benefits for periods greater than 12 months while they are away meeting their military obligations. The company consistently messages its commitment to hiring Guard and Reserve personnel, through media announcements about its military hires and in its actual practice of consistently hiring and promoting veterans with and without continuing military obligations.
“Boyer Commercial Construction has shown unwavering support throughout every one of my SCMR [Selected Marine Corps Reserve] obligations over the years,” said U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Maj. Josh Greb who nominated Boyer for the award. “From multiple week active training periods to long duration flight requirements, Boyer Construction’s commitment is an outstanding example for all employers to emulate. The Boyer Team is dedicated to supporting those fulfilling a reserve military commitment and their families.”
“We are tremendously honored to be recognized by the Department of Defense as a recipient for the Employer Support Freedom Award,” said Brian Boyer, Boyer Commercial Construction president. “We take great pride in supporting the men and women who have served and continue to serve our country as well as their families. We value their commitment to serving our nation and the positive impact they have on our mission.”
