BILLINGS, Mont. – Terry Lassiter, Credit Review Manager for First Interstate Bank, received the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Patriot Award recently for the extraordinary support provided to U.S. Army Reserve Major Clayton Augustine.
“The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees who have answered their nation’s call to serve,” said Montana ESGR State Chair Brad Livingston. “Supportive supervisors are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s Guard and Reserve units.”
“National Guard and Reserve members bring tremendous skills and capabilities to our workforce, and employer support for their military service is critical to maintaining the strength of our Guard and Reserve units,” said Livingston. “By valuing the military service of their Guard and Reserve employees, employers are directly supporting the readiness and retention of our All-Volunteer Force, and our national defense.”
The nomination stated: “I have worked at First Interstate Bank for over 20 years and within those 20 years the bank has been a reassuring partner of the needs of the military and my progression in the military. First Interstate Bank supports its employees who are in the National Guard and Reserve with policies and procedures that provide matching pay, continued benefits and accommodations for scheduling around duty requirements. My direct supervisor, Terry Lassiter, recognizes the years of valuable training that I have received form the military and how it has benefited my current banking position. Most recently my supervisor and employer have been ultra-flexible with supporting requests to attend a military exercise in early February 2021 which was abruptly changed to mid-May 2021. Not only was my supervisor willing to support my leave but was willing to change work schedules twice to accommodate the military’s needs. First Interstate Bank and my direct supervisor have shown their commitment and support for the military and continue to be supportive of the military, making them without a doubt worthy of this award.”
“At First Interstate Bank, we understand our communities are only as strong as the people we serve, and I appreciate this acknowledgement. As Clayton’s supervisor, it is my privilege to be able to create the time for him to serve in the U.S. Army Reserve,” commented Lassiter.
ESGR is a Department of Defense program that develops and promotes supportive work environments for service members in the National Guard and Reserve through outreach, recognition, and educational opportunities that increase awareness of applicable laws. ESGR also provides assistance in resolving conflicts between Service members and their employers.
