WILLMAR, Minn. –Ron Muehlbauer of Willmar was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) in Minnesota July 10.
Minnesota Employer Support of Guard and Reserve Chair, Tom Simonet and Doug Broich Region 3 Chair presented the award to Muehlbauer.
Muehlbauer spent 38 years in the Minnesota National Guard and during that time he was assigned to eight different units in Minnesota. He joined the Guard in 1955 and retired from the Guard in 1993. His last unit was with the 34th Division Headquarters where he was the Division Command Sergeant Major. He has been involved for over 15 years as a volunteer and a Region Chair for ESGR. He continues to be a volunteer and work with the local Guard units.
ESGR, a Department of Defense program, was established in 1972 to promote cooperation and understanding between Reserve Component and Service members and their civilian employers. In Minnesota, 100 volunteers like Ron support our Guard and Reserve members as does the over 3,300 volunteers in 54 communities located across all 50 states, territories and the District of Columbia.
