LEWISTOWN, Mont. – Heidi Southworth, Montana Mental Health Nursing Care Center, received the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Patriot Award recently for the extraordinary support she provides her employee U.S. Navy Reserve Petty Officer 1st Class Tina Brawdy.
“The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees who have answered their nation’s call to serve,” said Montana ESGR State chair Brad Livingston. “Supportive supervisors are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s Guard and Reserve units.”
“National Guard and Reserve members bring tremendous skills and capabilities to our workforce, and employer support for their military service is critical to maintaining the strength of our Guard and Reserve units,” said Livingston. “By valuing the military service of their Guard and Reserve employees, employers are directly supporting the readiness and retention of our All-Volunteer Force, and our national defense.”
The nomination stated: “I am a supervisor and a very vital employee to our facility yet in 2017 my supervisor not only allowed me to attend a 4 month long A School, she also encouraged me to do all I could to further my Military career. She texted me while I was there to see how I was doing and to see if I needed anything. Each year she has been very supportive of my AT’s and my desire to build up my military career as I have with my civilian. This year, 2021, I was called to do a 27 Day AT to help with the COVID vaccines which left us short at work during a similar circumstance of getting everyone vaccinated. Just days before returning home I expected a 71 day short fused ADT in Germany that started two weeks after my return. Heidi supported and encouraged me. She let me know that even though I would be greatly missed that she and the facility were behind me in my endeavors. Her support over the past eight years has been one of the main reasons I have been able to succeed as I have in my military career.”
Southworth commented after the award presentation, “I am honored to be considered. I would have encouraged Tina no matter what she pursued with her military career.”
