SPOKANE, Wash. – Maureen Rosette, chief operating officer of the NATIVE Project received the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Patriot Award recently for the extraordinary support she provides her employee who serve in the Reserve Components.  The award was presented by Nancy Isaak, public affairs representative for the Washington ESGR committee.

Rosette was nominated by Idaho Army National Guardsman Spc. Lydon Walker, an employee at the Native Projects. “My Supervisor, Maureen Rosette, is always willing to help me serve in the National Guard,” said Walker.  “There are numerous times when I need to stay or leave on short notice, and I am never given resistance or made to feel shameful for doing so.  I am always welcomed back with full courtesy.”

“The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees who have answered their nation’s call to serve,” said Isaak. “By valuing the military service of their Guard and Reserve employees, employers are directly supporting the readiness and retention of our All-Volunteer Force, and our national defense.”

“One year I was gone for three months, and when I returned, I still got a raise,” said Walker.  “I would not be able to serve in the Army National Guard without my supervisor’s support and dedication and the entire staff at the NATIVE Project.  They deserve the highest award possible.”

ESGR is a Department of Defense program that develops and promotes supportive work environments for service members in the National Guard and Reserve through outreach, recognition, and educational opportunities that increase awareness of applicable laws. ESGR also provides assistance in resolving conflicts between Service members and their employers.
