OAK HARBOR, Wash. – Naval Air Station (NAS) Whidbey Island Budget Manager Jamie Parker for the Patrol and Reconnaissance Wing 10 (CPRW-10) was presented with a Patriot Award at her office by John Van Dalen, ombudsman for the Washington Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, in recognition of extraordinary support of her employees for serving in the United States Armed Forces.

Parker was nominated by Navy Reserve Petty Officer 1st Class Arielle Morgan, a financial Technician with the CPRW-10. “I nominated Miss Parker for making conscious efforts to recognize active reservist and military veterans by thanking them for their service and allowing for flexible work schedules which ensures all military obligation are met,” said Morgan.

“The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees, who like the citizen warriors before them have answered their nation’s call to serve,” said Van Dalen. “Supportive supervisors and managers are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s Guard and Reserve units.”

“I was surprised and honored to receive the Patriot Award and I continue to thank Arielle for her service” said Parker.  “I support Arielle and our military who serve our county.  We hire veterans. We know we are getting a known asset when we hire veterans or reservists like Parker because we know of the training and work culture they display everyday on the job.”

ESGR, a Department of Defense program, seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States.
