PHILADELPHIA – Pennsylvania Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense program, announced that Jason Shu of JP Morgan Chase recently received a Patriot Award in recognition of extraordinary support of employees serving in the Pennsylvania Guard and Reserve.
Shu was nominated for the Patriot Award by Pfc. Du-Marc Mills who is a member of the 1067th TC Company, an element of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard.
Wes Craig, Southeast Area Chair and State Chair Emeritus presented the award to Shu and said, “The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees, who like the citizen warriors before them, have answered their nation’s call to serve.”
Craig noted that Mills was activated in support of the COVID-19 response team in Philadelphia and was deployed there on short notice three more times during riots and demonstrations in the city.
During the Patriot Award presentation Mills said: “Jason Suh is the most understanding manager I have had during my military career. My unit was activated for no notice State Active Duty three times for riot duty and security around the Pennsylvania Convention Center during election vote counting, and ongoing orders for COVID relief. I was always welcomed back with open arms and Jason was always concerned about the toll of serving in the military and working at my civilian job had on me.”
Also present for the award presentation was JP Morgan Chase General Manager John Sullivan who was pleased to see Shu recognized and presented Craig with a signed Statement of Support.
