LINCOLN, Neb. – Jessica Brazau, Veteran Readiness and Employment supervisor at the Veterans Benefits Administration, Lincoln Regional Office, was presented with the Department of Defense Patriot Award during a virtual presentation by Peggy Brown, a volunteer representing the Nebraska Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.
Brazau was nominated for being highly supportive of her reserve component employee, Capt. Rebecca Luther, a member of the United States Army Reserve.
Luther writes in her nomination, “Jessica Brazau is very supportive and understanding of my military obligations. I transferred to the ROTC Battalion in July 2020 which has included several last minute requirements. Through all of this she has been very understanding and works with my schedule to ensure I can assist in any training requirements for the Army Reserve.”
“The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding support and cooperation to their employees, who like the citizen warriors before them have answered their nation’s call to serve,” said Brown in her presentation. “Supportive employers are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s Guard and Reserve units, and it’s a pleasure for me to recognize Ms. Brazau with this award.”
ESGR, a Department of Defense program, seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States.
