SARTELL, Minn. – Orthopedics Sports Center Director Tom Jensen received the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Patriot Award at the Sartell clinic Feb. 24.
Jensen was nominated for the award by his employee, Minnesota National Guardsman Sgt. 1st Class Izaak Schafer, who works as an occupational therapist at the St. Cloud Orthopedics Sports Center.
This award recognizes supervisors who go above and beyond to support staff members serving in the Guard and Reserve.
In the award nomination Schafer wrote that he appreciated that his company has made many accommodations for him including hiring additional personnel to cover for him while he was away, paying him the difference in salary to ensure he did not have to worry about money while deployed or on active duty service, providing him additional vacation to allow more time with his family and to recuperate after being gone for military training, and activations. They are a very understanding and supportive company to work for.
ESGR, a Department of Defense program, seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States.
