SEATTLE – Richard Paris, material supply chain supervisor for Swedish Medical Center-First Hill at Seattle, was presented with a Patriot Award by Larry Kirchner, military outreach representative for the Washington Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, in a remote presentation, in recognition of his extraordinary support of an employee who serves in the United States Army Reserve.

“The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees, who like the citizen warriors before them, have answered their nation’s call to serve,” said Kirchner. “Supportive supervisors are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s Guard and Reserve units.”

Paris was nominated by Army Reserve Staff Sgt. Ruth PizarroQuinones, a material distribution technician at Swedish Medical Center in her civilian career, for Paris’s support of her military service.  “Mr. Paris is understanding of my military duties, making my life much easier and alleviating many of the stressors of coming and going from civilian to military duty,” said PizarroQuinones.

ESGR, a Department of Defense program, seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States.
