ESGR in the News

CLEARWATER, Fla. – In a small ceremony, outside of the company building and in full compliance with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines, John O’Shea, president of Tech Data Corp. accepted the Above and Beyond Award on behalf of the organization for their exceptional support of the members of the Guard and Reserve that work for them. The presentation took place Oct. 30 in Clearwater.

The Florida Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) vice Chair Roger Trout and Florida ESGR Volunteer Coordinator Colleen Trout presented the award to O'Shea who expressed being very honored to accept this recognition for the company where he has only been working for three months as its president.

Tech Data was nominated for the prestigious award by Florida Army National Guard Sgt. 1st Class Dale Fulzenloger, who stated, “Tech Data has implemented changes that have more than assisted the Guard and Reserve employees while on deployment, training, or state emergency. Tech Data implemented differential pay, has managers recognized with a DOD Patriot Award, and supports the local veteran community financially and operationally. Tech Data employees have supported overseas deployed service members with gift boxes packed by company employees. Tech Data values its citizen soldier employees and is always striving to hire more.”

Following the presentation of the award, O’Shea took the time to sign a Statement of Support, re-committing the company’s support of the Guard and Reserve and its obligation to the citizen warriors who also serve as their employees.

The Above and Beyond Award is selected and presented by ESGR state committees to recognize employers at the state level who have gone above and beyond the requirements of the Uniformed Service Employment and Reemployment Rights Act.

ESGR a Department of Defense program, seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States.
