ESGR in the News

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) committee, a Department of Defense program, is pleased to announce the selection of Chaker J. Fadel as the new ESGR Awards Coordinator for Ohio.

The Award Coordinator role is a volunteer position focused on coordinating recognition of patriotic employers through a variety of Department of Defense awards. Mr. Fadel will oversee the Ohio Committee’s efforts to thank and honor employers for their support of their Reserve Component employees.

Fadel served in the U.S. Air Force and retired at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.  A volunteer with ESGR since 2004, he has received the ESGR Outstanding Volunteer Award. Following his military career, he worked with Goodyear Tire, Lockheed Martin, and he currently serves as a realtor for Cutler Real Estate in Fairlawn, Ohio. Fadel also serves as a board member for the Foundation for the Ohio Guard & Reserve and volunteers for Cuyahoga Scenic Railroad.

Fadel takes great pride in his engagement with ESGR, stating: “Having engaged primarily in the Employer Outreach area for most of my ESGR volunteer service, I’ve really enjoyed working with employers of all types in establishing relationships as well as recognizing their support with ESGR awards.  I’ve learned that there are numerous employers who are committed to supporting our military, which gives their employees confidence that they are appreciated in what they’re doing for their country and for their employers. This new assignment gives me more energy for the ESGR Program and will help our teams work closer with our Reservists in identifying those who deserve recognition.”

With almost half of the United States’ military force serving in the Guard or Reserve, Fadel will have a direct impact on these men and women, and their civilian employers. He joins members of 53 other committees who oversee the ESGR mission in the 50 states, three territories, and the District of Columbia.

ESGR is a Department of Defense program that develops and promotes supportive work environments for service members in the National Guard and Reserve through outreach, recognition, and educational opportunities that increase awareness of applicable laws. ESGR also provides assistance in resolving conflicts between service members and their employers.
