COLUMBUS, OH– The Ohio Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) committee, a Department of Defense program, is pleased to announce the selection of Randy Gasser as the new ESGR Training Director for Ohio.
The Training Director is a volunteer position focused on training new volunteers and maintaining the continuing education and learning platforms. Gasser will support Michael Bamber, the ESGR Ohio State Chair.
Randy J. Gasser is a native of Fort Jennings, Ohio, and U.S. Navy veteran. Gasser served in the Navy on active duty for eight years, and 18 years in the Reserves, retiring in 2012. Gasser is also retired from the U.S. Postal Service where he served as a customer service supervisor. Gasser has volunteered with ESGR since 2001, holding the positions of Vice Chair and Ombudsman Director.
Gasser takes pride in being part of ESGR, stating: “Working with ESGR as a volunteer has been an honor and privilege. I continue to volunteer so that I can make a small difference in the lives of our service members, educate employers, and recognize our employers who support them.”
With almost half of the United States’ military force serving in the Guard or Reserve, Gasser will have a direct impact on these men and women, and their civilian employers. He joins members of 53 other committees who oversee the ESGR mission in the 50 states, three territories, and the District of Columbia.
ESGR is a Department of Defense program that develops and promotes supportive work environments for service members in the National Guard and Reserve through outreach, recognition, and educational opportunities that increase awareness of applicable laws. ESGR also provides assistance in resolving conflicts between service members and their employers.
