SEATTLE – Marcus Bachelder, production manager for the Boeing Company in Seattle, was presented with a Patriot Award in recognition of his extraordinary support of an employee who serves in the Washington Air National Guard.  Bachelder was nominated by Washington Army National Guardsman Spc. Trevor Palmer, a parts straightener at Boeing in his civilian career, for Bachelder’s support of his military service.

“The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees, who like the citizen warriors before them, have answered their nation’s call to serve,” said Larry Kirchner, an Employer Support for the Guard and Reserve military outreach representative who arraigned the remote presentation. “Supportive supervisors are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s Guard and Reserve units.”

Palmer expressed his appreciation for the support and accommodation provided by Mr. Bachelder, citing his support and understanding of his reserve military duties. “Mr. Bachelder is understanding of my military duties, making my life much easier and alleviating many of the stressors of coming and going from civilian to military duty.”

ESGR, a Department of Defense program, seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States.
