SEATTLE – Data Center Operations Director Ian Wrightson of Amazon Web Services at Bellevue was presented with a Patriot Award March 2 by Larry Kirchner, military outreach representative for the Washington Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, in recognition of his extraordinary support of an employee who serves in the United States Marine Corps Reserve.

Wrightson was nominated by U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Col. Brian Roberts, a manager for Global Physical Security in his civilian position, for Wrightson’s support of his military service.

“The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees, who like the citizen warriors before them, have answered their nation’s call to serve,” said Kirchner. “Supportive supervisors are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s Guard and Reserve units.”

Roberts expressed his appreciation for the support and accommodation provided by Wrightson, recognizing his key counsel and mentorship when Roberts joined Amazon. “The support provided by Wrightson and Amazon have been invaluable to my family and myself” said Roberts.

ESGR, a Department of Defense program, seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States.
