ESGR in the News

SPOKANE, Wash. – Tissue Recovery Satellite Supervisor Andrer Mills of LifeNet Health Northwest was presented with a Patriot Award Feb. 5 by Jim Wynne, employer outreach representative for the Washington Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve in recognition of extraordinary support of his serving in the Guard and Reserve.

Mills was nominated by Washington Air National Guardsman Staff Sgt. Brittany Taylor, a tissue Transport Recovery Specialist at LifeNet Health Northwest, who serves with the 194th Medical Group.

“Andrew, from the very start of my employment, has been very supportive,” said Taylor. “During my interview with him, I had informed him of several military obligations. He didn’t use that as an excuse or reason to not hire me. He hired me for one of the two positions he had available. He even waited several months for me to start because he was supportive of my annual tour that was taking me out of the state for two weeks. He has been understanding with my being gone again for two weeks, not even a year later, for another annual tour. He also recently was understanding when I forgot to give myself a travel day for drill and put myself on call. He just took me off call without any issues.”

“The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees, who like the citizen warriors before them, have answered their nation’s call to serve,” said Wynne.  “Our Guard and Reserve members could not perform their military duty without knowing their civilian employer supports them 100 percent.”

“I wanted to thank you again for taking the time to come out to our office and presenting the award,” said Mills.  “It meant a lot to Brittany as well as me.”

ESGR, a Department of Defense program, seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States.
