ESGR in the News

Springfield, Mass. - Tom Costley, founder, Chris McAlister, director of operations and Jonathan Igoe, managing director of Overland Summers, were presented with a Patriot Award Dec. 9 by Bill Hebert, Western Massachusetts Area Chair for Massachusetts Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) in recognition of extraordinary support of their employees serving in the Guard and Reserve.

Costley and McAlister were nominated for being highly supportive of the Army National Guard and Igor was nominated for being highly supportive of the U.S. Army Reserves by their Reserve Component employees, Spc. Adam Milano and 2nd Lt. Matthew Duncan.

Costley also signed and posted a Statement of Support after receiving his Patriot Award, in which he committed to supporting Guard and Reserve employees on behalf of the company.

“The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees, who like the citizen warriors before them, have answered their nation’s call to serve,” said Bill Hebert, Massachusetts ESGR Western Massachusetts Area Chair. “Supportive supervisors are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s Guard and Reserve units.”

ESGR, a Department of Defense program, seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States. For more information about ESGR outreach programs or volunteer opportunities, visit
