KAPOLEI, Hawaii – Hawaii Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense program, announced Tessie English Ryusaki, Vice President of Hawaii Truck Parts, Sales and Services, LLC, signed a Statement of Support for the Guard and Reserve Sept. 9 at their company office.

The signing was conducted by Bob McKaig, ESGR volunteer, Hawaii Committee and attended by Program Support Specialist Samuel Wong, National Guard Employment Support Program.

The Statement of Support confirms Hawaii Truck Parts, Sales and Services LLC, joins other employers in pledging:

We fully recognize, honor and comply with the Uniformed Services Employment and Re-Employment Rights Act (USERRA).

We will provide our managers and supervisors with the tools they need to effectively manage employees who serve in the Guard and Reserve.

We appreciate the values, leadership and unique skills service members bring to the workforce and will encourage opportunities to hire Guardsmen, Reservists and Veterans.

We will continually recognize and support our country’s Service members and their families, in peace, in crises and in war.

McKaig expressed the gratitude of the National Guard and Reserve for the support employers like Hawaii Truck Parts, Sales and Service, LLC, provides to the service members who live and work in the community.  McKaig further noted, “Without employers such as Hawaii Truck Parts, Sales and Service, LLC, our service members would not be able to perform their military duties of national defense and local humanitarian relief and recovery efforts.”  In this particular case, their employee, Sheila Sunio is the spouse of an airman of the Hawaii Air National Guard, who recently returned from deployment.

Tessie English Ryusaki is also a recipient of the ESGR Patriot Award.  Ryusaki said, “We are family oriented company who fully supports and understands the National Guard, Reserves and their family. Family is very important to us and we stand behind them and their family when it's time for them to depart for their missions.”

ESGR seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States. ESGR facilitates and promotes a cooperative culture of employer support for National Guard and Reserve service by developing and advocating mutually beneficial initiatives, recognizing outstanding employer support, increasing awareness of applicable laws and policies, resolving potential conflicts between employers and their service members, and acting as the employers’ principal advocate within DoD.
