ESGR in the News

HONOLULU – Dr. Pradip Pant of the National Disaster Preparedness Training Center, was presented with a Patriot Award Aug. 29 by Bridget Komine and Brian Mikel, volunteers for the Hawaii Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Committee, in recognition of extraordinary support of his employee serving in the Reserves.

Dr. Pant was nominated and personally thanked by Air Force Reserve Capt. Michael Iwashita. He mentioned that, “My supervisor and employer are very supportive of my Air Force Reserve duties and help make them relatively easy to complete. They also help to make the transition between work and Reserve duties relatively seamless.”

Dr. Pant was surprised with the presentation of the ESGR Patriot Award during a 3R (Risk, Reduction and Resilience) event held at the University of Hawaii, Manoa Campus. Komine explained that the Patriot Award is specifically for managers and supervisors and that it recognizes their support of the service member employee. She talked to the importance of Dr. Pant’s support and how it strongly supports Capt. Iwashita’s ability to perform his USAFR IMA duties.

ESGR, a Department of Defense program, seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States.
