Tri-County Bosslift for supportive employers of Guard and Reserve members

BRIDGEPORT, W.V. – West Virginia’s Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve hosted a Tri-County Joint Leadership bosslift with Monongalia, Marion and Harrison Counties Chamber of Commerce members on earlier this year.   There were 56 employers in attendance.

The program of the leadership group members helps to cultivate business leaders and educate them on the communities they live and work in. The bosslift was one avenue to educate them in what service members are doing while away from their employer.  “They are going to be able to get onto a military C-130 aircraft, be able to understand and actually feel what service members are like when they are on the aircraft transporting,” said Joel Miltenberger, Vice Chair for the West Virginia Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.

ESGR seeks to foster a culture where all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States. ESGR facilitates and promotes a cooperative culture of employer support for National Guard and Reserve service by developing and advocating mutually beneficial initiatives, recognizing outstanding employer support, increasing awareness of applicable laws and policies, resolving potential conflicts between employers and their service members, and acting as the employers’ principal advocate within DoD.  Furthermore, ESGR encourages the employment of Guardsmen and Reservists as they bring integrity, a global perspective and proven leadership to the civilian workforce.
