BLOOMINGTON, IND – Dr. Stephen Moore, President and Chief Executive Officer of CarDon & Associates Inc was presented with the prestigious Department of Defense Patriot Award July 23 by Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) volunteer, David Shymkus.

The Patriot Award reflects the efforts made to support citizen warriors through a wide-range of measures including flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployment, caring for families, and granting leaves of absence if needed.

Maj. Michael Delph, who serves with the United States Army Reserve, nominated Dr. Moore for this esteemed award. MAJ Delph shares “As my employer, Dr. Moore ensured that work related duties would not interfere with my deployment to Puerto Rico for Hurricane Maria Relief Operations. Additionally, he allowed for me to be paid my full civilian salary even though I was deployed. He has carried forward this practice for my mandatory annual training as well. He understands that the Defense Support of Civil Authorities (DSCA) mission I serve is vitally important to our nation. We must be prepared to respond domestically to any man-made or natural disaster for the well-being of the American people.”

“Supportive employers like CarDon & Associates Inc are vital to the success of the ESGR mission and our national defense,” said Stephen Williams, Indiana ESGR State Chair. “Our Guard and Reserve members could not perform their military duty without knowing their civilian employer supports them completely.”
