SPOKANE, Wash. – Loren Guske, administrator at Horizon Hospice received a Patriot Award May 23 from Ty Corbett, east area chair for the Washington Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve in recognition of extraordinary support of his employee serving in the Guard and Reserve.

Guske was nominated Air National Guardsman 2nd Lt. Christina Van Orman, a case manager at Horizon Hospice.  “Loren owns a business that not only hires veterans and honors veterans and military members but makes it a big deal to honor veterans in their last stages of life with pinning ceremonies,” said Van Orman. “He is often quick to thank myself and other military and veterans that work for him for their service and gladly works with the demanding schedule and TDYs I must take for the military.”

“The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees, who like the citizen warriors before them, have answered their nation’s call to serve,” said Corbett. “Our Guard and Reserve members could not perform their military duty without knowing their civilian employer supports them 100 percent.”

ESGR, a Department of Defense program, seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States.
