LAKE CHARLES, La. – Jeffery Pike, operations supervisor construction at Centerpoint Energy Lake Charles, accepted a Patriot Award April 3 from Louisiana Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Public Affairs Director Ryan Nelson.

Pike received the award for the exceptional support he provides his Louisiana Army National Guard employee, Sgt. Sam Witherwax.

"The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees, who like the citizen warriors before them, have answered their nation’s call to serve,” said Larry Jones, Louisiana ESGR state chair.  “Supportive supervisors are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s Guard and Reserve units."

"Pike said, "I was raised in military family and I understand the positive impact of support for military members.  I am honored to support Sgt. Witherwax and his Louisiana Army National Guard service”

"Witherwax said, “Centerpoint Energy provides me with outstanding support in regards to my Louisiana Army National Guard service.  They are very supportive of monthly and annual training requirements.”

ESGR, a Department of Defense program, seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States.
