SPOKANE, Wash. – Ryan Krasselt, vice president, controller and principal accounting officer, and John Wilcox, director of accounting both at Avista Corporation were presented with the Spouse Patriot Award by Nancy Reid Isaak and Ken Isaak, east area employment outreach coordinators for the Washington Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Committee, in recognition of their support of their employee whose spouse serves in the Washington Air National Guard.

Krasselt and Wilcox were nominated by Amy Parson, a resource accounting manager at Avista.  “Ryan Krasselt and John Wilcox have gone above and beyond to directly support me as a military spouse,” said Parson. “Most recently they allowed me to take a leave of absence from by job at Avista in order to spend over 5 months in Germany while my spouse was deployed. It took Ryan and John a lot of coordination to back-fill my position and John additionally assumed some of my responsibilities. I was so thankful that I was able to spend this time with my husband and support him while deployed. All of this speaks to Ryan’s and John’s unwavering support of the Guard and Reserve.”

“An employee serving in the National Guard or Reserve, or the spouse of a Guard or Reserve member, may nominate individual supervisors and bosses for the Patriot Award for support provided directly to the nominating Servicemember and his or her family,” said Nancy Isaak. “The Patriot Award reflects the efforts made to support citizen warriors through a wide-range of measures including flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployment, caring for families, and granting leaves of absence if needed.”

The Patriot Awards were presented at Avista’s staff meeting.  Also present at the ceremony was Amy Parson’s spouse, Washington Air National Guard Lt. Col. Charles Parson, commander of the 242 Combat Communication Squadron. Lt. Col. Parson expressed his deep gratitude to Avista Corp’s leaders for their support and patriotism.
