NEW CASTLE, Del. – Delaware Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Chair, Hugh T. Broomall, was inducted into the Delaware Aviation Hall of Fame at a formal ceremony presided over by LeSans Alexander, the Aviation’s Hall of Fame vice president Nov. 10.
The Delaware Aviation Hall of Fame was established to honor our aviation greats and to promote public recognition of the role of flight in the progress of The First State and in defense of country.
Broomall is a native Delawarean. In 1967, he enlisted in the Delaware Air National Guard (ANG), the beginning of his 45-year military career, which included enlisted service duty as an intelligence officer, a commander, a senior logistics and financial officer, and a strategist and policy maker at the highest level in the United States Air Force.
1n 2004, Broomall was promoted to brigadier general and appointed Assistant Adjutant General and commander of the Delaware Air National Guard, serving until 2008. After four years as Assistant Adjutant General, he was appointed at the Federal level as the Air National Guard U.S. Assistant to the Director of Logistics. Broomall was promoted to major general and assigned as the Special Assistant to the Director of the ANG and as the ANG Advisor to the Secretary of the Air Force.
His academic achievements during these years are no less than amazing. Currently, Dr. Broomall is a professor at Wilmington University. In addition to his degrees from Wilmington University, he has also attended the U.S. Army War College, the George C. Marshall Center, and Harvard Kennedy School. Besides teaching at Wilmington University, he also works as a consultant to the Department of Defense. In addition. he serves on a number of volunteer positions with the Delaware National Guard. He has been Chair of Delaware ESGR since 2019.
ESGR is a Department of Defense program that develops and promotes supportive work environments for service members in the National Guard and Reserve through outreach, recognition, and educational opportunities that increase awareness of applicable laws. ESGR also provides assistance in resolving conflicts between Service members and their employers.
