GREAT FALLS, Mont. – Montana Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense program, is pleased to announce the selection of Timothy C. Fox as the new ESGR Chair for Montana.

The State Chair is an official Department of Defense volunteer position with a three-year term of service, renewable one time. Fox will provide the leadership and vision for a team of dedicated volunteers throughout Montana to carry out the ESGR mission.

A native of Hardin, Montana, Fox is an attorney with Morgan & Morgan, PC focusing on complex litigation supporting the Nation’s state, territorial, and District of Columbia attorneys general, tribal governments, and other government clients. He served as Montana’s elected Attorney General for eight years. His peers presented him with the prestigious Kelley-Wyman Outstanding Attorney General Award in December 2020 in recognition for his contributions to the bi-partisan mission of the Association, and his advancement of the collaborative work of attorneys general.

His broad law practice over the past 34+ years includes consultation and litigation in many areas of the law including environmental, insurance defense, and product liability to name a few. Fox and his wife, Karen, have four children and eight grandchildren.

Together with Montana employers and Montana citizens, I look forward to ensuring that our Montana National Guard and Reserve service members are ready to meet all threats and challenges at home and abroad."

Fox is an adopted member of the Apsáalooke, or Crow, Tribe, and his Apsáalooke name is “Spiritual Runner.” In addition to being a Montana ESGR State Chair, Fox also serves as the American Legion, Department of Montana, Judge Advocate. He is an active supporter of the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) for Special Olympics and was the first state attorney general to serve on the executive council of LETR International.

With more than one third of the United States’ military force serving in the Guard or Reserve, Fox will have a direct impact on these men and women, and their civilian employers. He joins 53 other chairs who oversee the ESGR mission in the 50 states, three territories, and the District of Columbia.

ESGR is a Department of Defense program that develops and promotes supportive work environments for service members in the National Guard and Reserve through outreach, recognition, and educational opportunities that increase awareness of applicable laws. ESGR also provides assistance in resolving conflicts between service members and their employers.

The outgoing Montana ESGR State Chair is Brad Livingston who served in the position from July 2019 to September 2023.
