GALEN, Mont. – Mike Puccinelli with Missouri River Contractors was presented with a Department of Defense Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Patriot Award . The award nomination came from U.S. Army Reserve Pfc. Evan Cook in recognition of Puccinelli’s extraordinary support of Cook’s military obligations. The award was presented on a job construction site this summer in Galen, by Montana ESGR Vice Chair Tim Fox and Montana ESGR Ombudsman Mike Talia.

The Patriot Award was developed by Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), an office of the Department of Defense, to publicly recognize civilian employers who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their civilian employees serving in the Guard or Reserve. Employer support is key to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s Guard and Reserve.

The nomination reads, “Mike scored me a job right out of Advanced Individual Training (AIT) and made sure I was on a good job site with a prevailing wage. He just recently got a surgery to remove cancer out of his neck. He has never complained or even tried to keep me going form drill, even gives me that day off beforehand so I can drive up before dark. He is the hardest working man I know and could really use a good thing in his life right now. One thing I’ll never forget is when he helped me with gas money right when I started because I didn’t have enough to make it home and I didn’t have my wallet. Mike is a great role model and an even harder worker.”

Congratulations Mike Puccinelli for being a supportive civilian employer of our country’s service members. You provide a valuable service to our country by hiring Guard and Reserve members.

ESGR is celebrating 50 years of working to foster a culture in which all employer support and value the employment and military service of members of the United States National Guard and Reserve. For more information about ESGR outreach programs visit www.ESGR.mil

Puccinelli also signed a Statement of Support certificate on the tailgate of his truck. The Statement of Support program is the cornerstone of ESGR’s effort to gain and maintain employer support for the Guard and Reserve. The intent of the program is to increase employer support by encouraging employers to act as advocates for employee participation in the military.
